Two weeks ago, I shared the first Clinch Boots blog — outlining the idea, the vision, and why I felt there was room to do things differently in Australian football footwear.
Since then, a lot has happened.
The biggest shift?
The full size sample range has arrived.
That might sound like a small milestone from the outside, but for anyone who’s built a physical product before, this is one of those moments where an idea starts behaving like a real brand.
From concept to confidence
Up until now, Clinch Boots lived in sketches, specs, conversations, and a handful of prototype samples. Seeing the boots across the full size run changes everything.
Fit becomes clearer.
Proportions make sense.
Design decisions either stand up — or they don’t.
For me, this stage has been about confidence. Confidence that the sizing works as intended. Confidence that the materials and construction translate properly across different foot shapes. And confidence that what I’ve been working towards actually holds up when it’s no longer theoretical.
That matters more than most people realize.
Why sample sizes matter? In footwear, sample sizes aren’t just boxes to tick. They’re proof.
They’re the difference between “I think this works” and “I know this works.”
They allow real testing, real feedback, and real conversations with players.
It’s also the stage where you stop imagining how a product will feel on foot — and start watching people actually wear it.
That’s where Clinch Boots is now.
Where things are at
Over the coming days, I’ll be:
* Taking photos of the full size range
* Getting boots on players’ feet
* Gathering early feedback
* Refining timelines and next steps
There are also important conversations happening behind the scenes around manufacturing and the next phase of the brand. Nothing to announce yet — just steady, meaningful progress.
The focus right now isn’t speed for the sake of it. It’s getting the foundations right.
What’s next
This week is about:
* Sharing more of the product visually
* Continuing player testing
* Locking in a clear short-term plan
Clinch Boots is still early, but moments like this are reminders of why I started it in the first place. Not to rush to the finish line — but to build something properly.
Thanks to everyone who’s followed along so far. More updates soon.
